Knox Berry Farm LLC
Location: Mount Vernon, OH
To continue our family business by growing quailty produce, with fair prices, where all are welcome!
My dad, Jim Fridrich, moved to Mount Vernon in 1976, to work with his college roommate and friend, Dick McConnell on McConnell Berry Farm. My mom, Mary, joined the crew in 1977, after she and Dad married. Eventually Dad and Mom bought our present farm, which was adjacent to McConnell’s property. In 1990 Knox Berry Farm was officially born. It has been in continuous operation ever since. As years passed Dad started to slow down. At that time, my husband and I became more involved with the farm and we made a discovery! We love farming! Fortunately, Dad was very willing to pass on his more than 45 years of experience, and we benefit from that knowledge to this day. Dad passed in 2023, and we took over. Our family is committed to Dad’s vision which was to produce quality produce at reasonable prices, for everyone. We grow: black and red raspberries, concord grapes, and a long list of vegetables—tomatoes (cherry, Roma, slicing/juicing), peppers (habanero, hungarian hot, jalapeno, bell, poblano), plus cucumbers, zucchini, okra, cabbage, green beans, and squashes (acorn, delicata, spaghetti, butternut). In pumpkin season we grow jack-o-lanterns, mini, pie, and decorative pumpkins. While we are not officially listed organic, we limit our use of chemicals as much as possible. We use plastic to cut down on weeds, crop rotation to help with disease control, and Neem Oil to make our plants strong. We hope you join us on the farm, bring the family if you wish, and make some wonderful memories! Mary, Pam and Tim #makingdadproud.
